Sorry wizards and witches, those 'Harry Potter' Netflix rumours ain’t true
30 October 2018

It’s the uplifting news that the nation needed: all eight of the excellent Harry Potter films were coming to Netflix.

The spellbinding announcement seemed to be made by a French Netflix account when they posted a teaser clip on Twitter with the famous John Williams ‘duh duh-duh duh duh duuuuh-duuuuh’ score.

Twitter was, understandably, abuzz with Harry Potter excitement.

The tweet was picked up by news outlets and it was rumoured that all eight movies – The Philosopher’s Stone, The Chamber of Secrets, The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Goblet of Fire, The Order of the Phoenix, The Half-Blood Prince, The Deathly Hallows – would be heading to Netflix UK soon after our European cousins.

But, alas, the rumours were just that, rumours. A Netflix UK spokeswoman has confirmed to ShortList that there are no plans at the minute to bring the film series to the streaming service over here.

“This is with regards to the French service I’m afraid – they’re not going to be available on Netflix UK,” the spokeswoman said.

Rats! I love me some Potter magic.

But while you’re waiting for Netflix to pull their act together and bring us the film series, there’s plenty of other great stuff coming to the streaming service next month, including the full Lord of the Rings trilogy, so don’t be sad for long.
