Dumb & Dumber 2 to shoot this year

Yes, for those five people who've seen it, you're probably screaming at your computer to remind us that there actually was a follow-up back in 2003.

For those of you wise enough to avoid it, Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was a prequel which followed the two main characters throughout high school. With a 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it wasn't seen as a particularly welcome addition.

But last year, Jim Carrey hinted that a legitimate sequel was in the works and this weekend has seen confirmation from the Farrelly brothers that it's definitely going ahead.

At a press conference for The Three Stooges, Peter Farrelly revealed that they would be shooting the sequel in September with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels returning.

He was also keen to distance himself from the prequel.

"We did not do Dumb & Dumberer,'" he said. "That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched Dumb & Dumber and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'"

The film will likely be released in 2013.
