On the back of two BAFTAs, two Oscars and two Grammys, you might assume the acclaim for Sam Mendes’s Skyfall couldn’t get much weightier.
But now it has - thanks to a doggedly creative bunch of gamers who've used the multiplayer mode in the latest installment of Grand Theft Auto to meticulously re-create the film’s opening blow-out action sequence.
Assembled as various modified characters in the sparse desert lands surrounding San Andreas, the Brass Ballers team captured all the action - motorcycle jump on to the train, dust-up over a mighty bridge, and, naturally, that misaligned sniper’s bullet which sends 007 plummeting to the lake below him - in astonishing fashion, even using a player in a helicopter to capture those trickier shots.
All in all, it truly is cap-doffing stuff. But don’t take our word for it - check the video below, which might just be the best digital Bond footage we’ve seen since hammering Goldeneye on the N64.
