Amazing sky pictures

In this digital day and advanced age the old adage ‘seeing is believing’ is no longer necessarily true.

And at first glance these photos would appear to be manipulated to an inch of their lives. However, drum roll please, they’re not.

The work of New York-based photographer Eric Cahan, these shots of various idyllic sunrises and sunsets are actually pretty close to reality. A little Photoshop has been used and some colour curves added, but that’s about it.

The vivid, cartoon-like bright hues have been captured by employing coloured resin filters and placing them in front of the camera lens.

To our mind, the evocative shots bring to mind nostalgic summers gone by and half-remembered Cocteau Twins album covers. Either way, we’re mightily impressed.
