There's a standard pattern to video game trailers: a shiny cut scene teases a brooding hero, usually stubbled, hefting an unlikely weapon or fist in the direction of a foe in glorious slow motion, before cutting to a brief burst of actual game play footage. Viewers, elated, head to their preferred internet vender and rewatch the footage until their mouse hand goes numb.
The new trailer for Just Case 3 doesn't play by these rules.
There's still game play footage - bundles of it in fact. But rather than teasing you with a fleeting experience of the action, Game Director Roland Lesterlin takes viewers through a "choose-your-own-adventure" demonstration of the game's special brand of chaos. When the video arrives at a point of choice, you're presented with a series of options as to how you want to progress through the demo, mirroring the features you'll find in-game.
From destruction techniques to vehicle functions, via multiple explosions, we're hoping this superb experiment from the Just Cause team is adopted by more game developers.
