If Video Game Characters Could Break The Rules

Like unruly toddlers and excitable dogs, video gamers secretly crave boundaries. Without a certain structure to a gaming world, you'd be lost: Mario should only progress to the right. Final Fantasy characters take it in turn to fight. You can't ride your bike just anywhere in Pokémon. That's just the way it is.

But what if video game characters weren't help back by the constraints of their designers? What if they could do whatever the heck they wanted, completing the game in whatever fashion suited them best?

That's the premise of Dorkly's latest brilliant parody video. If heroes could do break all the rules, games like Donkey Kong and Sonic might not be such a test on your thumb reflexes, and finding the princess could be that much easier.

On second thoughts, maybe we'll just stick to playing by the rules...
