We don't speak droid basic - that endearing set of beeps and whistles that the likes of R2-D2 and BB-8 emit throughout the Star Wars series. As such, we can only guess at their underlying robotic emotions (happy, sad, terrifying of being blown up).

We do happen to speak Windows, a language we've been versed in ever since we booted up Windows 3.1 and were greeted by that electronic horn fanfare. We know exactly what that heavy, alarming beep means, what that annoying high pitched tweet refers to - they're noises that have been seared onto our memories.

So, if in some twisted galaxy a little bit closer to our own, droids like BB-8 were to run Windows, we would actually have a pretty good idea of what they were saying. Just view the above creation of Brian Elder for an idea.
