Ant Salt Invented

Quick question: Have you eaten ants? We mean as an adult. We all ate ants when we were five, right? RIGHT?

A new salt made from ants (pictured) has been created by the chefs at Noma restaurant, the world's best restaurant three years running, as part of an interactive food experience called The Lab.

The Noma Taste Test, which takes place today and tomorrow, was created by Lars Williams, the restaurant's head of research and development, in a bid to get the public to try things they’ve never seen or heard of before.

Apparently, the insect seasoning is tangy but delicious and goes well with sautéed wild mushrooms, grilled garlic toast or a poached egg.

You try it first. If you like it then we'll have a go.

The Lab in sponsored_longform with AEG is a brand new food event at Tobacco Dock 25-27th April, featuring the Noma Taste Test. Tickets are available here thelabevent.co.uk
