A Stunning Grand Budapest Hotel-Inspired Video Game You Can Play For Free
What a time to be a Wes Anderson fan.
After recently presenting you with the Wes Anderson café over in Milan – we hope you had an espresso for us - here comes a video game inspired by The Grand Budapest Hotel which you can play for free.
Created by students at New York University’s Game Center, the delightful 2D game takes its cues from the film superbly. You play as an endearing lobby boy under the tutelage of a waggish, moustachioed boss, and at first must get to grips with scrambling around the sprawling surroundings, all awash in Anderson’s trademark colour palette.
Then the real action begins; although this is where the parallels change a little. As, unlike the conspiracies of Anderson’s latest romp, Maquisard sees players attempt to locate a secret government agent hiding in the hotel. Still, it’s an utterly brilliant platformer: one which you can get lost in over a lunch break or an evening stuck indoors.
Don’t believe us? No need to part with too many Klübeck coins (the fictional currency from the film - you can download it yourself now on both PC and Mac. Donations are welcomed.
Because you always tip good hotel service, don’t you?
