The best Fathers’ Day gift ideas your dad will actually want

Top present ideas to keep your dad happy this Fathers' Day.

Shopping for a Fathers' Day gift isn't easy. Your dad may say he doesn't need a gift to have a nice time, but we know that's not the case. What's more, it often feels like you've bought all the standard presents before, doesn't it? His favourite drink? Check. A tie for nice events? Check. Those chocolates he loves? Check.

We're here to help with a selection of the best Fathers’ Day gifts around from the standard and safe to the unusual and unique. There's a range of budgets catered for here too because we know how much dads like to complain that you've spent too much on them.

If the perfect gift for your dad isn't here, you'll also see that we've added links to more specific gift guides below, which means if you like to surprise your dad with the best gin, whisky or beer, look no further.

Oh, and in case you don't know: in the UK Father's Day is happening Sunday, 18 June this year. You're welcome.

Audio Pro is one of the best producers of multi-room speakers in the world. It has now spruced up its range with a tie-in with a Swedish artist called Peter Eugén. To that end, it’s a far cry from the classic black box of a hifi speaker, and has gentleman with a hat plonked on the side. These artists, eh? Distinctive styling aside, this is an excellent speaker. It’s a portable Bluetooth model, rather than the Wi-Fi kind we know Audio Pro best for, and can last up to 30 hours off a charge at moderate volume. Only 500 of this design are being made, so get in there quick.

Following on from the Nupunia and Lunar releases, this limited edition release from Hendrick's has been our go-to gin ever since we got a bottle earlier in the year. We're a big fan of the floral and herbal notes, as well as pairing it with some cucumbe. Also, that bottle is one that definitely stands out. If your dad is a fan of gin, then this is a must have

The aim of the Guinness Nitrosurge is to bring the experience of a perfectly poured pint of pub Guinness into your home. You stick the Nitrosurge device on a can of Guinness, and then pour using the classic two-stage technique. The obvious question: what does it actually do? A Nitrosurge “uses ultrasonic technology to break down the nitrogen in Guinness and give you a beautifully smooth two-part pour every time,” according to Guinness. Bear in mind you’ll need to buy the specialised Nitrosurge cans too — the device isn’t designed for a plain old can of Guinness.

This is the first release in Craigellachie's Cask Collection and is a lovely 13-year-old single malt that's been finished for just over a year in Bas Armagnac casks from Gascony, France. We've taste tested and it's a great speyside which has apple, caramel and spicy pineapples notes. If you are looking for a decent dram under £60 then this is definitely it.

There are so many different types of headphones on the market right now, so be sure to pick a style your dad will love, whether that's true wireless earbuds for ultimate convenience or a pair of headphones designed for working out with little earhooks. But if we had to pick a safe option that'd work for lots of people in a range of environments at an affordable budget, we'd pick the JBL Tune 750 BTNC, a pair of wireless over-ear Bluetooth headphones that sound fantastic and cost less than £100.

The Theragun Mini is a tiny massage gun that brings major pain and tension relief. It uses percussion massage therapy, which essentially means it uses rapid movements and pressure to certain pain points all over the body. You can get large versions, but this one is ideal for using on the move. An incredibly worthwhile gift if your dad likes hiking or working out.

Angel's Envy already has pride and place in our best bourbon list and we reckon it's a great Father's Day gif, too. This is a really smooth bourbon, with vanilla and chocolate notes thanks to its ruby port barrel finish. Given the weather is decent right now, you can also mix with soda water and lemon and make a cracking highball with it.

One of the best action RPGs around, Diablo IV will have your dad battling hell and beyond as he takes on demon after demon in Sanctuary. It's over the top and gratuitous but if you want a game to show where they will sink hours into, then this is the one to get. We've been playing for weeks now and still have only scratched the hell-like surface.

Epic fight movie John Wick Chapter 4 is already out on disc, less than three months after its cinema debut back in March. If your dad is a bit of a home cinema fan, you should definitely get the 4K Blu-ray version, assuming he has the hardware to actually play the thing. AV Forums says it “delivers an absolutely spectacular native 4K presentation with Dolby Vision HDR.” At almost three hours long, and much of that runtime taken up by long, kinetic action scenes, it’s worth seeing Chapter 4 in all its glory.
