Netflix rumoured to be preparing the one feature we all want

It's about time - Netflix might finally be about to get easier to watch on the move

Netflix rumoured to be preparing the one feature we all want
17 October 2016

Rumours are pinging off all over the web that Netflix is finally set to get the one feature we've been longing for ever since realising we can't get a stable wi-fi signal in the upstairs bathroom (everyone loves a Netflix 'n' Soak session, right?).

An 'Offline' mode, allowing subscribers to temporarily download episodes and films to devices to watch offline, could arrive before the end of the year. Back of the Net(flix) etc.

In an interview with communications industry site Light Reading, industry insider Dan Taitz (chief operations officer of Penthera - which specialises in mobile streaming) claimed to know the when and where of the matter:

"We know from our sources within the industry that Netflix is going to launch this product," said Taitz. "My expectation is that by the end of the year Netflix will be launching download-to-go as an option for their customers."

The inconvenient truth of the matter? Netflix hasn't uttered so much as a single official Tweet that the feature is in development. Diddly squat. Light Reading's article was published back in June this year, provoking zero comment from the streaming giant.

Netflix CEO Reed Hasting has previously stated that the streaming company is keeping "an open mind" on the feature, while the Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt previously stated that he didn't think the feature was "a very compelling proposition".

We asked Netflix if they were working on an Offline mode, or any other features that might allow us to download our favourite shows to watch without a web connection.

"Our focus remains on delivering a great streaming experience," said a Netflix spokesperson, "though we are always exploring ways to make the service better."

Here's hoping Netflix gives us the Offline feature - along with these other gems - asap. Or at least before Stranger Things Season 2 arrives, okay guys?
