I don’t know what the bigger headline is: Rick and Morty season three having an actual, seemingly not-trolly release date (30 July), or that it’s 2017 and Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Bonkers’ is still soundtracking trailers.
But yeah, the highly-anticipated return of Rick and Morty is happening in exactly a month, when 10 new episodes will land on Adult Swim. The announcement was made in a livestream on the network’s website on Thursday.
The new trailer (feat. Dizzee) begins with Morty coming face-to-pickle with Pickle Rick (Rick turned himself into a pickle) in the garage, before we’re whisked off to a Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland and what looks like a space theme park. There are mutant rats jumping out of the toilet, alien shootouts, and at one point Morty’s arm is bigger than his entire body. Business as usual, then.
According to Polygon, co-creator Dan Harmon hinted during the stream that a fourth season could be on the cards, but for now, let’s just be happy that three is coming, and it’s coming soon.
