Mention Slender Man to your mates and you'll get one of two reactions: those who haven't heard of him will assume it's a new meat-only diet that promises to get you "shredded". Those who have will turn pale, sip at their pint and say they "don't want to talk about it".
Slender: The Eight Pages was a short indie game developed by a twisted chap called Mark Hadley. A first-person survival horror with simplistic graphics, it tasked players with navigating a dark wood to collect eight pages of a document that would explain why they'd been trapped in this infernal forest with a sinister character known as the Slender Man. Armed with nothing but a limited torch, the suited creature would haunt the edge of player's vision, stalking them with a relentless, terrifying persistence.
Having haunted PC gamers for the better part of two years, the horror is now coming to consoles as Slender: The Arrival - with the terrifying prospect of full Oculus Rift support. Having the Slender Man clutch at the sides of our face is a little too much for us to cope with.
If you haven't yet experienced this unique, terrifying game, check out the trailer below.
Slender: The Arrival arrives on PlayStation 3 on 23 September and Xbox 360 on 24 September
