One of the most likeable sitcoms in recent years finally has a second season release date.
Aziz Ansari’s Emmy award-winning Master of None will return to Netflix on 12 May, with every episode available for binging from the off.
The comedian, who created the show with former Parks and Recreation writer Alan Yang, announced the date on his Twitter account, where he also posted a brief teaser.
In it we see Dev (Ansari) and co-star Eric Wareheim enjoying a sunny scooter ride in what we’re guessing is the Italian countryside. The first series finale (spoiler alert) ended with Dev heading to Europe to fulfil his dream of becoming an expert pasta-maker, and last year we were treated to a video of the pair having an extremely good time in Rome.
Master of None followed Dev as he tried to make it as an actor in New York. The show looked at the the many quirks of modern romance (on which Ansari also wrote a book), while also having something to say on race, gender and old age. It was funny, charming and a good lesson in how to not be a dickhead.
The Netflix synopsis for the second season explains that Dev will return to New York after his travels, taking on “challenges in his personal and family life, a new career opportunity, and a complex, developing relationship with someone very meaningful to him.”
Hopefully we get more pasta appreciation as well. You can never have too much of that.
