He found fame as the none-more-innocent star of About A Boy when he was just 12. His new role is rather different.

Nicholas Hoult, now a 25-year-old Hollywood star, plays the utterly despicable A&R man Steven Stelfox in the hotly-anticipated film Kill Your Friends, based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Scottish writer John Niven. He's a ruthless, sexist, racist monster who'll stop at nothing to survive in an industry where 'no one knows anything', so blagging, scheming and cheating is everything.

We sat down with Nicholas to discuss his own rock star behaviour, he equally dark world of filmmaking and his research for the role.

Kill Your Friends is in cinemas 6 November
