In case you missed it, The Mummyis being remade.
Why, you ask? Because The Mummy marks the beginning of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe: similar to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe where all the stories and characters are intertwined.
So, we’re in for a lot of remakes, rehashes of story lines and a tonne of releases.
Main players in the ‘universe’ are said to be Invisible Man (played by Johnny Depp), Wolf Man (rumoured to be played by Dwayne Johnson), Van Helsing, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Bride of Frankenstein (Angelina Jolie is sought for the main role, while Javier Bardem wanted for Frankenstein's monster). Luke Evans’ Dracula Untold is also possibly, maybe, who knows, going to be part of the series.
But for now the only thing we know for certain is The Mummy (played by Sofia Boutella of Star Trek Beyond) is being woken from its peaceful resting place by Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis (of Peaky Blinders).
In the trailer, we also see Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll (AKA Mr. Edward Hyde) wake Tom Cruise in a very odd sanatorium after he’s done being action hero on a plane, again.
