This trailer for New Horizons' Pluto mission will make you excited about space

Space. The geeky frontier.

Don't worry - we're not trying to get you excited about another science fiction spectacle from some director you don't really care about. This is about real, actual space exploration, which is far more important.

On 14 July, NASA's fastest space probe New Horizons is set to swing past the former-planet-now-dwarf-planet, Pluto and its moons.

For the first time in human history, we'll be given high resolution images of the dwarf's surface, pick up a massive bundle of data about its structure and generally marvel at a giant lump of dirt and ice travelling through space at 4.7km per second.

Not excited? The team at the National Space Society think you should be - so they've commissioned the following trailer in a bid to build the hype.

Go on - get your diary and stick 14 July in it.
