The Evolution of Robots in Film

Despite all of our hopes, robots haven't yet become a common feature of everyday life.

But that's not the case in the movies, where they've been a constant presence on screen ever since the 1920s. They've had some epic Hollywood moments over the years, and this excellent new poster from WebHostingBuzz celebrates the progression of on-screen robots up to the present day.

False Maria, from 1927's Metropolis kicks things off, as famous bots, good and evil, including Gort (The Day The Earth Stood Still), Johnny 5 (Short Circuit), Marvin (The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy) and, of course, C-3PO and R2-D2 (Star Wars) are featured.
