The only pizza choices we're usually concerned by are a question of deep pan or thin base, extra meat or cheese. Now we'll have to consider whether we want ours served with a miniature umbrella or olive on a cocktail stick.
Trattoria Neapolis, an Italian bistro based in Pasadena, USA, decided to go about celebrating Pizza Month (otherwise known as October) in a less than orthodox fashion. The Pizza Cocktail is a novel variant on a Bloody Mary, consisting of tomato water, basil-infused vodka, ghost-pepper infused vodka, porcini powder, muddle basil, topped with Parmesan and mozzarella foam.
It's an interesting, well thought out concoction - clearly not the result of a booze-fuelled 3am experiment after a night out. But it's not compelling enough for us to travel over the pond to sample it. We'll stick to having our pizza served in the boring-yet-delicious tradition: on a plate, covered in melted perfection.
