Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
How do you make a regular Resident Evil game even scarier? Add extensive VR capacities and make the horrible dead things slash at your eyeballs. You're going to need new trousers...
Detroit: Become Human
One of PlayStation's bold new titles, Detroit is a crime whodunnit with a difference. You play an android with better-than-human abilities to examine a crime scene. The more you learn about a scene, the more options you’ll have to put things right when you confront the criminal. A huge array of potential questions and interactions means you might never see all this game has got up its sleeve.
God of War
By the gods this looks good. An emphasis on role playing features alongside brutal combat with an enchanted axe, set in a world of terrifying beasts, PlayStation's major mascot is looking better than ever.
Titanfall 2
While the first Titanfall put its focus squarely on multiplayer, the sequel looks to give lonely players (or those who just prefer some alone time) a solid piece of solo campaign, seeing you switch between playing a giant Titan and its human pilot. Match made in heaven, if you ask us.

FIFA 17
You know the drill: another year, another FIFA to obsess over. But number 17 feels like a true step up over recent renewals. Use of a more powerful graphics engine, Frostbite, has added staggering detail to the title - meaning Rooney's sunburn appears more painful than ever before - while the physical system that governs the interaction between the ball and players is even more 'real' than ever before. Add in a slicker set piece system and more intelligent computer players, and you've got your new footballing addition.

Destiny: Rise of Iron
Due: September 2016
New story. New weapons and armour. New Raid. That's the crux of Destiny's latest serious expansion, Rise of Iron - and it's sure to set Guardian's tongues wagging. They bloody love new stuff. Oh, and the Gjallarhorn is back.
Mafia III
Due: October 2016
Tommy guns. Three piece suits. Old American cars that can't go round corners. All set to feature in the freshly revived Mafia title, starring Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran on a quest to seek revenge for his friends, who are murdered by local mobs.
Watch Dogs 2
Due: November 2016
Old dog, new tricks. You play sprightly Marcus Holloway - a hacker with some neat free running tricks, a rucksack full of hacking gadgets (including an RC car) and a 3D printed gun. Wreck havoc in the connected city of San Francisco, change the world.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Due: February 2017
Think Jurassic Park plus Terminator and you'd still be nowhere close to understanding what's going on in this grand new adventure. Take on the role of skilled hunter Aloy as you explore a vibrant and lush world inhabited by mysterious mechanized creatures. Kill them.
Battlefield 1
Ever fancied having 63 mates over for a game of war? The latest Battlefield, set amidst the trenches of the First World War, is offering just that - though online, rather than in a cramped living room. Tanks, Zeppelins, horses, biplanes - if it turns out half as good as the trailer, we'll be happy.

Dishonored 2
One of our favourite games of recent years, the Dishonored sequel looks to have polished the winning formula of the first title - but set in a bigger, more detailed world than before. There's more 'Chaos' this time around: the final sequences of the game will be hugely affected depending on whether you let targets you meet throughout the game live or die. To help you make up your mind, the all-seeing Heart returns, giving you additional insights into just how rotten the new world of Dishonored is.

Prey
Prey is back! There's a theme setting in here... Set aboard a space station over run by a mysterious alien race, you've got to use a bunch of super cool weapons and 'mind bending' abilities to survive. Good luck.
Sky rim Special Edition
We never thought we'd get excited about the sentence 'New snow shaders', but here we are. Skyrim has been given the full beans for the new console generation, adding a heap of visual grunt to one of the finest role playing games ever made. You'll also be able to play mods on your console, which is super.
Quake Champions
Quake is back! The game that stole your youth is getting a fresh new look, with a huge roster of new characters with their own unique abilities to master. Bethesda is hoping to attract a bunch of professional esports players with the title, so expect it to be really, really quick.
Scalebound
Massive Dragons, with even bigger boss battles, fill this new title from Microsoft.
Forza Horizon 3
Every year we think that they're not going to be able to make racing games look more real. Every year we're proved wrong.
ReCore
Build and master a team of robots, jump around with impressive agility and shoot stuff in Microsoft's other new IP.
Steep
Throw yourself off massive hills in the Alps and look spectacular while doing it. That, or fail and send the brilliant replays to your mates.
