Ever since Back To The Future Part II hoverboarded its way onto our screens way back in 1989, we’ve all been hankering its life-changing technology. Least of all: Marty McFly’s self-tying Nike Air Mags trainers.
And while it is now possible to genuinely buy them, they’ll set you back an almighty $720 (around £580). But don’t fret, as there is a way to get this slice of footwear futurism on the cheap, and best of all, it even involves LEGO.
This pair of self-tying LEGO comes from the mind of an enterprising young industrial designer named Vimal Patel, who’s essentially super-glued a load of the toy bricks onto an old pair of worn-out trainers, threaded the laces through his contraption and attached a small motor - hey presto. You’ll look like a fucking maniac but at least you won’t have to do your shoelaces up.
