Look, if you haven’t seen Black Panther yet, then I’d say you need to read no further, because I’m about to drop some big-ass spoilers right onto your bulbous head from a great height. Go away, watch the film, then come back (I still need the views).
Right, now we’ve got rid of the chaff, you and I can talk about some proper juicy stuff - namely what Forest Whitaker has been saying about his character’s relationship to the upcoming Black Panther sequel.
As you’ll rightly recall - because you’ve seen the film, remember - Whitaker’s elder statesman Zuri gets himself absolutely killed at the hands of Killmonger, and it’s all very upsetting. So you’d be forgiven for thinking that he’d not be appearing in the sequel, because, you know, he’s dead.
Forest Whitaker ain’t letting a trivial act such as ‘dying’ stop the fun though, as he revealed when he talked to Entertainment Tonight:
Whitaker says: “I guess I would be like an Obi-Wan Kenobi, you know, who comes back, he talks from the ancestral plane to give advice to T’Challa.”
This could work - we’re in fantasy land here, so anything goes - and I’d certainly be keen for more Zuri. Of course, this is just some bloke with a microphone jumping on Whitaker at the premiere of an entirely separate movie, so this isn’t official or anything, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
We’ll have to wait a few years to find out, either way. Until then, do whatever you want, I’m not your dad, jeez. Leave me alone.
