These events may not sound terrifying, but piece them together with a vague knowledge of mid-90s cinema and you have Scream, the horror which spawned the rebirth of the slasher film along with umpteen sequels.
Well now Scream is back, as a TV series, and it’s nice to see some of the classic plot devices haven’t been lost: light switches still have a habit of flicking on and off, teenagers spend most of their free time frolicking at house parties despite there being a serial killer on the loose, while every student looks far too suspicious.
And as you can tell from the first teaser trailer, below, it’s clear the only thing not being slashed is the budget.
