Exorcism trailer accidentally shown to kids

Amidst the tiresome parade of advertisements that precede the main feature, you might remember a seemingly innocuous notice about trailers being suitable for the movie that follows.

Since the majority of our readers are over the age of 12 (we think) this probably bears little importance to you. But a recent cinematic catastrophe in a London Cineworld has shown the significance of sticking to this rule.

Picture the scene: a cinema full of impressionable kids and their protective parents settling in to watch the animated family adventure Puss in Boots. As the children start to quiet down, the trailers begin. And then so do the tears...

The open-jawed audience were mistakenly shown a set of adult trailers meant for Underworld: Awakening. Included are 15-rated previews of The Devil Inside, a horror film about a possessed woman, and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, about a flaming-skulled vigilante who has sold his soul. And before you can say "nightmares forever", the Wandsworth parents were scrambling to get the images off the screen and out of their children's minds.

Catherine Walker, who was with a family friend, said: “It was every parent’s nightmare – kids watching exorcism trailers.” Parents, is that really your worst nightmare? Just curious.

The trailers were eventually turned off and the cinema is set to face a fine or lose its license.

According to The Devil Inside's 5% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, just watching the trailer alone seems like a lucky escape.
