Christian Bale Set To Play Steve Jobs

Christian Bale looks set to take on the role of iconic Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, following Leonardo DiCaprio's withdrawal from the project.

The Oscar-winner is currently in talks with Sony to act in the biopic, entitled 'Jobs', which will be directed by Danny Boyle and written by Aaron Sorkin. DiCaprio was in pole position, but pulled out to take time off from acting, leaving the role free for Bale.

Sorkin has already said that the movie will be three long scenes, each occurring backstage before a major Apple product launch. He told the Daily Beast, “The first one [is] the Mac, the second one [is] NeXT, after he had left Apple. And the third one [is] the iPod. It’s a little like writing about the Beatles. There are so many people out there that know him and revere him.”

It's set to be shot in spring next year - no release date has yet been announced.

It will, of course, be the second biopic of the same name, after last year's effort, which starred Ashton Kutcher as the technology mogul. That one bombed at the box office, but Kutcher received praise for his portrayal of Jobs (albeit producing some comedy gif moments such as that below) - we're sure Bale can do a better, ahem, job, though.
