Missed Radiohead’s epic London gigs last year? There’s a chance to see a fifth of the band, Ed O’Brien, in October.
The Barbican is hosting An Evening With… Blue Morpho, which will see the guitarist play his upcoming Blue Morpho album, on October 16th.
Bad news: it’s already sold out. But there’s always a chance to pick up a resale ticket ahead of the show itself.
Tickets started at £25, rising to £60.50 for Circle seats. You can join the waiting list over at Gigs and Tours, while we expect to see resale tickets pop up occasionally over at Ticketmaster too.
It’s no wonder the tickets sold in a flash, when the full might of Radiohead’s social media channels were used to announce the concert. The Barbican’s main hall has capacity for under 2000 people, so you’ll have to keep your eye on the ball to pick up a resale ticket.
Ed O’Brien’s Blue Morpho album is due out on May 22nd, and the London gig is part of a wider European tour, held across October. Here are the full dates:
- October 4th: Carre, Amsterdam
- October 6th: Teatro Lirico, Milan
- October 8th: Salle Pleyel, Paris
- October 10th: Admiralspalast, Berlin
- October 12th: Laeiszhalle, Hamburg
- October 14th: Oosterpoort Main Hall, Groningen
- October 16th: The Barbican, London
These concerts will feature musicians from the album, which include David Okumu, who acts as O’Brien’s musical director. The aim isn’t simply to recreate the album exactly as it sounds on CD or streaming, though.

It’s “conceived as a fluid and immersive experience,” so you can expect things to get a little loose.
Blue Morpho will be Ed O’Brien’s second solo album, following 2020’s Earth, which featured quite the cast of musicians. These include returning collaborator Okumu, Laura Marling, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche and Colin Greenwood. He did have plans for a tour to support the album, but Covid put a stop to that.
A blue morpho is a type of butterfly, and a pretty massive one at that. It’s found in rainforests, and the Natural History Museum has written a page on this lovely creature, if you fancy reading more on the subject.
