Watch a Batsuit wearing Cillian Murphy audition for Batman Begins

Cillian Murphy and his wonderful eyeballs earned worldwide plaudits for their performance in Batman Begins as the villainous Scarecrow.

Turns out, however, that Murphy had another character in mind when he stepped into Christopher Nolan's office.

Talking in a DVD extra, the British director revealed that the Peaky Blinders' star originally auditioned to play the caped crusader himself.

Speaking over Murphy's test footage, Nolan reveals that while he gave an impressive performance under the cowl, the directing team thought his hypnotic peepers would be better suited to the mind-controlling Scarecrow.
