Vast new Elysium trailer

It would seem that Sony Pictures doesn't like surprises: the new three-and-a-romping-half-minute trailer for forthcoming sci-fi Elysium lays every twist and turn of the film's narrative arch bare. And it looks splendid.

The future-Earth flick, directed by Neill 'District 9' Blomkamp, sees down-and-out Matt Damon embark on a tech-embracing mission to restore equality to a society in which the privileged reign, quite literally, over the destitute.

Check out the trailer for robots, mechanically augmented humans, Jodie Foster doing her best impression of a robot and potentially all but the last inches of the plot.

Elysium is scheduled for a UK release on August 23
