We're not afraid of innovation. Hell, we loved the fact that Nike created trainers made from cork.
Which is why we're totally in awe of designer Andy Martin who has created a road bike made from wood. As part of a collaboration with furniture company Thonet, the design uses their steam bending process, which was developed in the 1930s.
The bicycle itself is a traditional fixed wheel bike and its seat and frame are made from solid beech wood. Another feature, which might interest adrenaline junkies, is that it doesn't have breaks and has several interchangeable gear ratios.
However, while the two-wheeler may look ace, the price tag is a staggering £43, 715. As that's a little over our yearly travel card, we'll just stick to the tube.
It is currently being prototyped in Japan and will be available in limited edition.
