Deciphering a subway map in any major city can be an unnecessarily arduous task, often to the point of catching a bus and never mentioning the ill-fated underground venture again.
So prepare to be doubly impressed by these striking works from Paris-based architect Jug Cerovic, who's taken the blueprints of the world’s busiest underground metro systems and helpfully filtered them into one user-friendly design.
Dubbed INAT, this simplistic brand of mapping ensures all text is labelled in both local and Latin characters, a standard set of symbols is applied to all maps, and that most lines feature no more than 5 bends on their entire length.
And if these don’t make navigating your local subway system with a hangover that bit easier, we'd advise buying a bus pass.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
