The ShortListen: Rival Sons (no. 276)

No-nonsense rock 'n' roll from Californian band

The ShortListen: Rival Sons (no. 276)
18 March 2016

Who? Rival Sons

What’s the story? We like a song that doesn't mess around. And that is exactly what you get on this bone-shaking', big-riffin', Led Zepin' blast of rock 'n' roll from Long Beach act Rival Sons. Hollow Bones Pt. 1 is the first track from their forthcoming fifth album of the same name (minus the Pt.1) which is due for release in June (you can download it for free if you preorder the record on iTunes now). There's massive drums and a giant chorus riff, while singer Jay Buchanan roars over the top like Robert Plant. The band have worked the traditional way, building their fanbase with touring and blood, sweat and tears, and in the words of Buchanan, "Each record we've made has been part of a distillation toward revealing the band's essence.  This record, finally is the release of the unapologetic, wild beast that has long lived within the ribs of Rival Sons howling to be freed." Well, we're sold. How about you?

For fans of: Royal Blood, Jack White, Led Zeppelin
