Determining the value of abstract art is complex for many reasons.

Still, it doesn't take a bespectacled art scholar to be able to separate near-priceless paintings from those worth a few quid, right? Surely there’s a huge gulf of difference between those that command eight figures and others which you can pick up for a tenner. Or so you would think.

With news of a Picasso work becoming the most expensive painting to ever sell at auction, fetching well over £100m in an auction at Christies in New York, we've gone and listed some of the most expensive ever artworks alongside some from IKEA for a little quiz.
