Instagram is being used for all sorts these days: coffee art, fitness inspiration, more coffee art. Now, thanks to Phoenix, it's also being used for more important tasks, like announcing brow-raising music collaborations.
On 13 August, Phoenix posted a black and red sleeve image, simply stating: "Phoenix featuring R. Kelly, Trying To Be Cool Remix". The original track appeared on 2013's Bankrupt, and featured guest vocalist Kelis. Apparently we can expect the remix to arrive "soon".
While an unlikely pairing, Phoenix already have some history with R Kelly, performing with him during their headline set at this year's Coachella festival in California. Phoenix's Laurent Brancowitz recently spoke to Radio.com, explaining that the band "just asked" Kelly if would like to work with them: "We are big fans and we asked him in a very simple way and explained what we had in mind and he just said yes."
We're keeping our fingers crossed that the remix features in Phoenix's Reading and Leeds festival performances later this month.
