Think of porcelain and chances are you’re not instantly transported to a world of unimaginable wealth. Back to childhood afternoons reluctantly taking tea with your grandparents, maybe, but that’s a far cry from one of the world’s most expensive cars.
That’s all set to change, however, as Bugatti has unveiled a £1.4m special edition of the Veyron with ceramic flourishes and the swirly white pattern on its exterior that’s designed to mimic studio light reflections. This has influenced the car’s full name: the 16.4 Grand Sport L’Or Blanc. Or ‘white gold’ to all you non-French speakers.
In short, this is a car that will get you noticed. But if you’d spent that much money on a motor, you’d hardly want it to slip past unnoticed.
This one-off is the result of a sponsored_longform with porcelain specialist Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (it’s German). Ceramics have been used inside and out in seven different locations.
This pottery isn’t just there for show, either — it’s also utilised for several useful features. Not least of which is a caviar tray in the centre console, which comes with an ice bucket as part of a specially designed picnic set.
