It was just on Monday when the news was revealed that Michael Fassbender would be taking on the lead role of Macbeth in an upcoming adaptation and now we have word on who will be his devious wife.
Natalie Portman, last seen in Thor, will be taking on the role of Lady Macbeth in the film to be directed by Snowtown helmer Justin Kurzel.
The adaptation of Shakespeare's dark thriller will be set in the 11th century, use the original language and reportedly feature some bombastic battle scenes.
Screen Daily reported that Portman has been keen on the role for a long time and has considered starring in stage versions of the play. She was also keen to work with Michael Fassbender again after they recently shot Knight of Cups, the new film from Terrence Malick, together.
The film will start shooting near the end of the year and we expect other casting announcements soon.
Portman will next be seen in Thor: The Dark World.
