Another year, another batch of Shakespeare adaptations on the cards.
Before the end of 2013, we can expect to see new spins on Romeo & Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing, and casting news has just dropped for an upcoming version of Macbeth that we think is a bit of a home run.
Michael Fassbender, last seen in Prometheus, has been revealed as the latest actor to take on the tragic role in a film to be directed by Justin Kurzel. Kurzel is best known for his dark Australian drama Snowtown.
The faithful adaptation will use the original language and be set in the 11th century. Early word suggests that the script is taking a more visceral take on the story and will feature significant battle scenes.
Lady Macbeth is yet to be cast but rumours are swirling that a major Hollywood actress is currently in talks.
Fassbender will next be seen in Twelve Years A Slave, alongside Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch.
