The 'Some Big Monster vs. Some Big Other Monster' genre has reached its apex. Following in the bloody, cheaply animated wake of Megashark Vs. Giant Octopus and Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid (starring Debbie Gibson and Tiffany) comes a clash of two titans of B-movie animal-horror Lake Placid Vs. Anaconda.
Technically, it should be The Crocodile From Lake Placid Vs. Anaconda (But Not The One From The First Movie Because It Died), but try fitting that on a poster. The Lake Placid series began with a pretty entertaining movie, starring Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman and Betty White, about a giant crocodile terrorising a quiet lake and all those who lived around it. It spawned three less entertaining sequels. The Anaconda series began with an absolutely terrible movie, starring Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight and Ice Cube, about a giant snake that killed people for over-acting or something. It spawned three sequels the made the first film look better.
The new team-up, which currently has no plot details but we can all take a good bet on it involving a fight to the death between a crocodile and a snake with lots of humans serving as collateral damage, begins filming in Bulgaria in December.
Our money's on the anaconda. Faster and more slippery.
