It seems nothing is beyond the reach of Bruce Dickinson. Not content with fronting Iron Maiden, being a children's author, holding a commercial pilot's licence and being a radio and TV host, he has now launched Maiden's very own signature beer, "Trooper".
Like the metal gods themselves, the drink is typically British, being brewed by family-owned, Stockport-based firm Robinsons, ale makers of some 175 years' experience and home of 'Old Tom', voted ‘World’s Best Beer’ by the international Beers of the World publication.
The beer is named after one of Maiden's most enduring songs - released an astonishing 30 years ago - and will be available to buy from May 2013. Naturally, their long-serving mascot Eddie will be present on the label. Fans can sign up for updates at www.ironmaidenbeer.com.
Dickinson remarked: "I'm a lifelong fan of traditional English ale; I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavour and texture that is Trooper. I love it."
