Books don't come with parental guidelines.
There are no age certificates, no warnings of any potential contents of a sexual, violent or unwholesome nature. Which makes us wonder - with some colourful reimagining of the cover and some tactile touch-and-feel pages midway through, could you sell A Song of Ice and Fire as a kid's book?
The team over at Mashable are clearly of a similar mind. They've had a crack at reworking George R R Martin's world of Westeros as a children's book, in the same vein of the restful classic, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and Pat Hancock.
The results are whimsical, beguiling and deeply unsettling.
Best stick to The Hobbit if you want to introduce your kids to the world of fantasy. The dragons are much more chilled out.
