Because he's the hero Maya deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
No, Zack Synder hasn't been playing around with the origins of the Dark Knight. This exceptional piece of craftsmanship is the work of Mexican designer Kimbal, commissioned by Warner Home Entertainment Mexico in conjunction with the Mexican Museum of Design to celebrate the 75th anniversary of DC's Batman.
Presented with a blank Batman bust, Kimbal was given the brief of creating a work that combined the identity of the familiar hero with Mexican art. The designer chose to base his work around the Mayan god Camazotz, a deity of Mesoamerican mythology regarded as the teacher of the mysteries of life and death.
The results are astonishing: a Batman (Batmayan?) costume that would strike fear into any shadowy cartel group. You'll ahve to get yourself to the Mexican Museum of Design to see Kimbal's work and the efforts of other artists.
