Preseason is a dreadful time for everyone concerned.
Football fans, desperate for any slice of action, have to trudge to outposts in the back of beyond to watch meaningless games with 28 substitutions per side, managers insist that it's good for 'the lads to get minutes in their legs' and that the unexpected 5-0 defeat was 'useful for our tactical plans', and players have to endure 'boot camps' in an effort to regain full fitness after spending the obligatory three weeks on a beach in Dubai.
No one wins.
Apart from, it seems, cheeky chancers that embrace the informality of the games to live out a few of their own dreams. Like this particular cheeky chappy, who ran onto the pitch to take a corner just as Wigan full-back James Tavernier was preparing to take it. To say he looked unimpressed was an understatement.
It's also excellent as it reminds us of this absolute hero at a West Ham v Spurs game at the start of last season.
And this Russian fan, who nailed his spot-kick. We could do with him in the England team.
