The next gem to fall out of DC and Warner Bros. shareholder news storm is word that Ezra Miller is set to play The Flash in a big screen adaptation due in 2018.
In addition to confirming stand-alone titles for Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam, Warner Bros. boss Kevin Tsujihara has announced that Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) will take the lead as Barry Allen in 2018's The Flash.
Despite the newly launched TV series based on The Flash gaining positive reviews in the US, news of Miller's casting further cements DC and Warner Bros.' position that their television and film franchises aren't set to mingle any time soon (a decision which contrasts with Marvel's stance, bridging the likes of Agents of SHIELD and an upcoming X-Men series with their film universe).
Having already mastered the role of a quiet outsider in his recent films, it'll be interest to see if Miller can handle the action-heavy requirements of a superhero casting.
