As a film director, Stanley Kubrick’s visual thirst knew no bounds.
From the hallucinatory race through time itself in 2001: A Space Odyssey to the frozen labyrinth of The Shining, to the jaggedly dystopian sets that wound up A Clockwork Orange, his was an eye that few could rival.
So given how the great man rarely shirked an opportunity to take audiences to the realm of the impossible, we imagine he would have stroke his hairy chin in approval at some of these works, running as part of an upcoming art show in San Francisco's Spoke Art Gallery in celebration of his terrific career.
We've picked a smattering of the works available now for your enjoyment (below), with the bulk of them thus far homages to his adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic The Shining.
We've also managed to get our hands on an exclusive from artist Bruce White, who took time out of preparing for a forthcoming solo show at Gallery 1988 to send us his self-titled acrylic painting of Dick Hallorann, running when the show opens later this week.
It starts on 6 September (6-10pm) and runs until 27 Sept. You can even RSVP on Facebook.
