When I watch Countdown, which isn’t very often, I’ll admit - much more of a Four In A Bed man actually - then I usually shut down during the number rounds. Chuck a load of numbers in my face and I’m switching off, eyes going black, head flopping forward, ears making a hissing sound like a lorry braking. I can’t do maths - I forgot it all the minute I finished my A-Level maths exam. Can’t even do long division anymore.
So watching this very ‘90s clip of Countdown in which an evil genius displays a terrifying grip of mathematics, had me on the phone to MI5 immediately, because this man is clearly a cyborg and a direct threat to humanity. Just cop a load of this alarming demonstration of dangerous intelligence:
If you can tell me how this man worked that out in 30 seconds, then I will give you ‘some’ money. You’ve got to actually show me an MRI of this man’s brain though, like I need proof that he isn’t a robot.
Carol Vorderman is definitely convinced he is a human because I’m not sure I’ve ever witnessed such love in her eyes for another man before (apart from Richard Whiteley of course) as she realises (eventually) that he is bang right.
Yes, Channel 4, that right there is ‘Countdown’s Most WTF Moment’ - you are correct in saying this. But also:
MAYBE SHE IS ALSO A ROBOT MAYBE THIS WHOLE THING IS FROM SPACE AND THE END IS NIGH JUST LIKE I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS WHOLE TIME.
