

Whatever happens between now and the end of May, the 2010/11 football season will surely go down as the year of the glaring miss. We’ve flagged up a couple already – here and here – but nothing could prepare us for this belter.
In a Greek second division match just before Christmas, Veria FC were playing at Levadiakos when three of their players conspired to miss five – count ‘em! – gilt-edged chances. Three of them hit the woodwork for Chrissakes.
What must be even more galling for Veria is that they went on to lose the match 1-0. Talk about early Christmas presents for Levadiakos.
