Well snap that board and call me a ninja, two stellar Jean-Claude Van Damme films are set for modern remakes.
First up is 1988's Bloodsport, a subtly titled flick that saw 'the muscles' play American Army tough guy Frank Dux. Dux enters the Kumite, an illegal fighting competition with a brutal reputation for crippling or even killing the combatants who participate. James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, The Raven) is set to direct a remake penned by Taken writer Robert Mark Kamen, a lethal combo that we're deeply excited by.
Also announced is a reboot of 1989's Kickboxer, which saw Kurt Sloane (Van 'Damn') master the frankly aggressive art of Muay Thai to avenge the death of his brother. Radar Pictures have signed martial arts specialist Stephen Fung to direct a script by Dimitri Logothetis and Jim McGrath (we'd not heard of any of them either).
There's been no casting news as of yet, but we've got all of our digits crossed that Jean-Claude gains at least one cash-laden cameo. Now check out these trailers for the originals and go punch some bricks in anticipation:
