Chris Pratt is an unlikely action hero.
He almost certainly wasn’t the first name director James Gunn had in mind to play space bandit protagonist Peter Quill, AKA Star Lord, in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Or the last for that matter - upon hearing of Pratt's interest in the role, the filmmaker reportedly asked, who, the chubby guy from Parks And Rec'?''
And yet his nerveless marksmanship with an ice cool one-liner (doubtlessly honed during his time on the workplace sitcom) and raw charisma ensured Pratt walked out of the audition room having made the role his own.
Pretty soon he was bulking up to play the lead anti-hero, who’s already being hailed as a mixture of Han Solo and Indiana Jones. And bulk he has. When we met him to discuss the film, a near masterpiece of sci-fi which is unlike any other comic book film you will have seen, he looked every inch the action hero set to blast off for a further installment if reports are to be believed.
Along with talking about the film and what he stole from set, we also got him to answer the big question: just who would win in an Anchorman-style brawl between The Avengers and the Guardians.
Let’s just say he doesn’t hold back.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is out now in cinemas nationwide
