Back To The Future musical imminent

Huey Lewis and The News are in for a good fiscal year. Following on from the recent critically acclaimed American Psycho musical, there seems another generation X cinema classic scored by the band is about to be brought to the stage: Back To The Future.

29 years since flux capacitors became shorthand for time travel, the trilogy’s screenwriter Bob Gale has now announced that Marty McFly’s time-traveling antics are coming to the West End, with no expense spared either.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd - he who directed James McAvoy in Macbeth last year – original composer Alan Silvestri returns for song writing duties, lyrics will be provided by six-time Grammy winner Glen Ballard, while all of the film’s iconic songs will remain, fueling fanboy hopes of seeing that guitar solo for real when the musical hits in 2015 - the film's 30th anniversary, no less.

No word on casting, but signs are it should be a great deal better than last year's Broadway flop Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, a film-to-theatre adaptation which, it has to be said, left most people in the dark.
