Assassin’s Creed 3 is in the midst of a revolution. And not just its American War Of Independence setting – the gameplay is already noticeably improved on its predecessors.
Protagonist Connor has new abilities (like hiding in tall grass) that allow him to move stealthily through the wilderness to shadow animals that he can kill and skin to trade. Dual wielding: The demo shows Connor fighting off a pack of wolves. Two were dispatched by a pistol, but the final one got so close it had to be taken out by a concealed wristblade.
Mission progression: Instead of taking one mission and seeing it through, you have a number that you can tackle in any order. Seasonal changes: Winter sees snow fall, slowing your progress. If it rains, gunpowder will get wet, rendering your muskets completely useless. Fluid combat: Switching between weapons and styles of attack is now seamless, allowing entire patrols of enemies to be wiped out the moment you encounter them.
Assassin’s Creed 3 is released in October on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360
