8-Bit Destiny Parody

8-Bit Destiny Parody

8-Bit Destiny Parody
21 October 2014

With an almost deafening fanfare, on 9 September Bungie's operatic space adventure Destiny launched itself on hordes of eager console fans. Millions of players descended upon its planets, ripping chunks out of each other in the game's multiplayer action and exploring its many, many caves.

As reviews started emerging from all quarters of the internet, an interesting dilemma seemed to have been struck upon. It was flawed - very flawed. Missions had little-to-no variety. Hard-fought items were often grossly underwhelming. Player interaction was almost non existent. And yet... it was brilliant. So brilliant in fact that it saw an average of 3.2 million players long on every day in its first month. It wasn't a radical experience, it wasn't the greatest story ever told, and yet it was still so very, very entertaining.

It's this bizarre tension that is the subject of loadingreadyrun's tongue-in-cheek superb 8-bit video, Destiny Tales. Pithy, sarcastic, and yet still enjoyable. Just like the game itself.
